Tax Collections

The Centre’’s net direct tax collections have registered growth rate of 43.45 per cent up to June 21 this fiscal at Rs 49,411 crore. While corporate tax collections for the period under review increased by 39.81 per cent at Rs 30,655 crore, personal income tax collections up to June 21 was at Rs 18,756 crore, reflecting an increase of 49.82 per cent over the same period last year. Direct tax collections of Rs 49,411 crore as on June 21 would entail that the advance tax payout of the corporate sector for the first instalment (June 15) in the current fiscal was about Rs 26,000 crore. Buoyancy in tax collections was substantial considering the fact that refunds to the tune of Rs 10,810 crore have been issued till date, reflecting a growth rate of 33.7 per cent over previous year.

Stock Market : LIC Kottayam

Last year, LIC Kottayam division performed well and emerged as the number one ACE division in the country in achieving the target on all counts. LIC Kottayam reported a total premium of Rs 71,481 lakh through 3,92,814 policies. During the current fiscal, Kottayam division has completed 46082 policies for a total premium of Rs 67 crore.

Stock Market : Bengal Tea And Fabrics Ltd

Bengal Tea and Fabrics Ltd has informed that the 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the members of the Company will be held on July 05, 2008, inter alia, to transact the following business:

1. To receive, consider and adopt the Audited Accounts for the year ended March 31 2008 and the Reports of the Directors and Auditors thereon.

2. To declare a dividend.

3. To appoint a Director in place of Mr. Supriya Gupta, who retires by rotation and being eligible, offers himself for re-appointment.

4. To appoint Auditors in place of retiring Auditors, from the conclusion of the 25th Annual General Meeting until the conclusion of the 26th Annual General Meeting and to authorise the Board of Directors to fix their remuneration.

5. To create such charges and / or mortgages and hypothecations in addition to the existing charges, mortgages and hypothecations created by the Company on such terms and conditions and at such time or times and in such form and manner and with such ranking as to priority as it may think fit, on any of the Companys moveable and immoveable properties and assets, present and future comprised in any undertaking or undertakings of the Company, as the case may be, in favour of the Lenders viz. Finance / Investment Institutions, Banks and Trustees for the holders of debentures / bonds / other instruments to secure the repayment of loans / borrowings sanctioned and / or to be sanction by them from time to time for a sum not exceeding Rs 125 Crores ( Rupees One hundred twenty five crores) in aggregate as per the approval of the shareholders under Section 293(1)(d) of the Companies Act, 1958 and inclusive of interest at the respective agreed rates and all other costs, charges and expenses and all monies payable by the Company in respect of such loans / borrowings as may be stipulated in that behalf and agreed to between the Board and the Lenders, subject to the necessary provisions & approvals.

Indian Market Trading

The market is trading firm due to the favorable cues from Asian markets, which is showing sign of recovery from earlier losses. Domestic market opened on positive note and BSE Sensex regained 15000 mark and NSE Nifty also crossed 4500 mark as buying is going on the most of the indices. All indices are trading in positive and only FMCG is trading in negative. The market breadth is positive as 1671 stocks are trading in green while 533 stocks are trading in red.

At 11.30AM, BSE Sensex is trading higher by 322.46 points at 15,211.71 and NSE Nifty is trading up by 84.00 at 4,533.80. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are trading up by 93.52 points and 135.62 points at 6,197.35and 7,476.78.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty are BHEL up by (5.93%) to trade at Rs1,465.50 in line with Bharti Airtel (4.74%) at Rs813.10, Ranbaxy Lab by (4.61%) at Rs586.60, HDFC by (3.52%) at Rs2,178.00, Reliance Infra by (3.37%) at Rs1,042.75, L&T Ltd by (3.29%) at Rs2,670.50 and NTPC Ltd by (3.28%) at Rs166.85.

The Capital Goods index is trading up by 326.62 points at 11,944.19. Pushing it are BHEL trading up by (6.29%) at Rs1,469.00 along with L&T Ltd by (3.07%) at Rs2,668.90, Suzlon Energy by (2.45%) at Rs276.00, Jyoti Struct by (2.44%) at Rs109.10 and Bharat Elect by (2.30%) at Rs1,120.05.

The Metal index is trading higher by 265.91 points at 15,531.83 as SH Precoated is trading higher by (3.86%) at Rs138.70 followed by Hindustan Zinc by (3.14%) at Rs585.15, Steel Authoruty by (2.91%) at Rs162.75, Jindal Saw by (2.62%) at Rs537.00, and Jindal Steel by (2.52%) at Rs2,063.20.

BHEL is trading higher by 6.29%) at Rs1,469.00. It has won Rs 3,588 crore turnkey order which has been placed by Pragati Power Corporation Ltd to set up a Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) at Bawana here through international competitive bidding. The order also involves commissioning and supply of four gas turbines for Pragati-III CCPP.

Bharti Airtel is trading up by (4.56%) at Rs812.95. Bharti Airtel with Vodafone Essar announced on Tuesday that they are going launch Apple’s latest ‘iPhone 3G’ by the end of this year which is of third generation, smartphone in India. On that time the government is also likely to give a go-ahead to advanced 3G mobile services. New phone will also be launched in the global market.

BPO Training For Muslim Students

Education is very important for a man. No service for a community is better than education. If you give education to a child and make him able to stand on his own then it is a great work. These were the expressions of Sirajuddin Quraishi who was speaking at the inauguration of free training classes for the Muslim Student which will be run by India Islamic Cultural Centre, Noble Education Foundation and Daily Siasat of Hyderabad. Here Muslim students will be trained for outsourcing and BPO jobs. He said that although resources are very important to get education but dedication is even more important than resources. He said in South India a lot of work is being done to give proper support to Muslim students. He said that they are just trying to replicate what our peers have done in the south. On this occasion Zahir Khan presented his experiment and details of educational programs for Muslim Students in Hyderabad. Syed Anas who was especially invited from Hyderabad gave tips to the Students to get succeed in life. He is a famous trainer for BPO and outsourcing business in India.
